Police Blotter: Crosswalk Clash, Pedi Problem, Malibooty Call

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

May 31

A GPS was reported stolen from a car in an underground garage at the 1500 block of Parkwood Drive.

A man who was crying and upset stopped into the to ask for advice about text messages he was receiving from his ex.

A resident at the 400 block of Woodduck Place told police she had a good suspect after a gun safe was stolen from her home. It had a .38 caliber revolver in it.

Police were called to after a woman refused to pay for a $75 pedicure. She told employees she had problems with a previous pedicure and also wanted a refund on a lost gift certificate. The woman was gone by the time police arrived, but employees got her license plate number and an officer found her at a tennis court on St. Johns Drive. She told the officer there was a prior arrangement to get a free pedicure because of previous poor service. She was upset, but while the officer was present she called Ocean Nails and paid with her credit card.

June 1

A resident at the 8700 block of Promenade Lane called police after receiving a suspicious letter claiming to be from Capital One stating someone tried to open a fraudulent account in her name. She checked with the company, and officials told her no new account was issued.

Police received a report of two people having sex in a gold Chevy Malibu in a parking lot at the 8600 block of Seasons Parkway.

June 2

Someone wrote graffiti on the .

June 3

Officers kept the peace during a dispute between a man and a tow truck company in an incident at the 1700 block of Donegal Drive. They also transported the man to multiple ATMs to assist him in getting the funds needed to get the car back.

There was a complaint of juveniles lighting off fireworks at .

A man at the 5700 block of Woodlane Court reported seeing a peacock on his property. (. It was later learned that .)

The Woodbury Fire Department put out a recreational fire that restarted at the 9300 block of Newcastle Road.

June 4

Woodbury officials responded to a call about an ammonia-type smell coming from the Donegal Drive . The Woodbury Bulletin reported that the store was closed for a few hours.

Someone played ding-dong ditch at a home at the 3600 block of Oxford Drive.

A man broke his girlfriend’s cell phone during a party at the 11000 block of Harvest Path after she was using Facebook but he thought she was texting another man. He then took her purse and took her money, and pushed her on the ground several times. Police found the man hiding in a closet. He was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail.

A resident at the 7000 block of Courtly Road found both doors of his vehicle open when he left for work that morning. Though nothing was taken, the car appeared to have been rifled through.

A Woodbury resident came to the Public Safety Department after he paid $1,500 for $3,000 worth of gift cards but only received $7 worth of cards.

A man at the 1600 block of Woodbury Drive called police after a college acquaintance of his daughter was apparently stalking her. He saw the man standing near his daughter’s car and yelled at him, only to find later that the car was egged and also had cheese thrown on it. Police made contact with the man and told him he would be charged with stalking and harassment if the incidents continued.

A resident told police that on June 2 she was driving near the intersection of Valley Creek Road and Donegal Drive when a man ran at her vehicle, causing her to swerve. She was unsure of his intent but reported it in case there were similar incidents in Woodbury.

Police were called to after a man was talking loud and swearing while on his cell phone. His mother was in the emergency room. He was unreceptive to security’s requests for him to lower his voice. He told police he would make his calls outside.

A fight broke out between two women over a necklace at the 6300 block of Alderwood Circle.

A stuffed animal and lithium batteries were reported stolen from a mailbox at the 6700 block of Military Road.

Someone drove through a flowerbed and apparently crashed into some landscaping boulders at the 7000 block of Sherwood Road.

Police were called about a bicyclist impeding traffic at the intersection of Lake Road and Woodbury Drive. A cyclist was crossing the road and asked a driver, partially in the crosswalk, to move back. The driver did not, as traffic was approaching. The cyclist turned his bike into the vehicle but did not damage it. The cyclist continued to stay in front of the car until police arrived. Officers advised the biker how to handle the situation differently in the future.

Police received a call about a possibly drunken man on a lawnmower who was driving all over the sidewalk and nearly hit a pedestrian near the intersection of Tamarack Road and Radio Drive. An officer arrived and saw the man, on a Craftsman LT200, had almost hit a pole. Police found that the man was disabled and could only communicate via an iPad. Officers determined he should not be driving the lawnmower anyway, and transported him home. The lawnmower was towed.
