Developer Pulls Request For Drive Thru Zoning Amendment

For now, the debate over a Chick-fil-A in Creve Coeur is a moot point.

Hours before a text amendment to city statutes members last week was to be considered by Creve Coeur City Council Monday night, the developer who requested the change asked that it be withdrawn.

The developer, Bill Biermann, did not return an email seeking comment late Monday afternoon. Biermann had proposed a commercial development on the site of the former Walgreens on Olive Boulevard that

Residents opposed the plan because of traffic concerns and because it called for the development on less than three acres as described by current city rules. Biermann's amendment would have changed the lot size to 1 acre and set a distance requirement from other drive thru restaurants.

Also Monday:

  • Council members gave first reading to ordinances which would legalize deer bowhunting within city limits and would also establish a no-feed law as methods of dealing with the increased presence of deer in the city. City council and city staff have been studying how to mitigate the deer problem in Creve Coeur in recent months. for a no-feed ordinance and an interest in exploring a deerhunting policy.
  • Council members also voted to maintain city property tax rates at 2010 levels.
