in football, the Rayshawn Simmons air show continues to impress at Webster Groves.

The Statesmen quarterback followed up his five touchdown performance against University City with another amazing aerial display last Friday night against St. Louis University High.

Simmons completed 17-of-34 passes for 275 yards and four more touchdowns as the Statesmen remained unbeaten with a 49-28 victory over the Junior Bills. He has 12 touchdowns and zero interceptions this season.

Helping Simmons has been receiver A.J. Farrar, who leads Webster with 13 receptions for 224 yards and six TDs.

Only one of Webster's three wins has come in the Suburban South as rival Kirkwood leads the conference with a 2-0 mark. The Pioneers have been impressive in both of their wins as they have scored 78 points and allowed just 14. The Pioneers beat Seckman Friday night, 42-7, and Rockwood Summit in their season opener, 36-7, on August 26.

Kirkwood's win over Rockwood Summit looks even more impressive as the Falcons have won their past two games, including a 39-7 win over Parkway West on Friday night. Ian McIntosh rushed for 131 yards and scored three touchdowns to pace the Falcons.

Parkway Central is the other unbeaten team in the conference. The Colts improved to 3-0 with a 42-0 rout of Northwest. Cole Gorman threw for three touchdown passes in the first half, and Devon Westley rushed for 121 yards on nine carries for the Colts, who are 1-0 in the league.

University City won its first game of 2011 and did it with an aerial show of its own. Deandre Williams completed 13-of-20 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns in a 25-20 conference victory over Parkway North. Alex Henry was on the receiving end of all three of Williams' touchdown passes. Henry finished the game with six catches for 168 yards, a 28-yard per reception average.

Jovonte Suber scored all three of Parkway North's touchdowns.

Softball: Waitz Shining For Parkway Central

The start of the 2011 season has been a rough one for the Parkway Central softball team. The Colts entered play this weekend with a 1-8 record and have scored just 30 runs while allowing 113.

But one Colts player had a tournament to remember in the Suburban South/West Conference Tournament. Alyssa Waitz reached base on 13 of her 14 plate appearances in the three games and had six RBI and five runs scored.

Only two of the league's teams have winning records in nonconference play with Webster Groves leading the way with a 6-3 mark. Parkway North is 6-5.

Cross Country: Parkway West Setting The Pace

The Parkway West cross country teams had a great showing in the Parkway Quad Tuesday. The boys had four of the top six finishers in winning the varsity division.

The Longhorns also won the junior varsity and freshmen races. Junior Lindsey Egan won the girls varsity race while freshman Maddy Brown finished third in varsity in her first cross country race.

Parkway Central's Eric Sivill won the boy's race at the Parkway Quad.
