Looking for a fun, family-friendly way to kick off your Christmas season this year?

If you live in or near Florissant, you’re in luck—it’s time for Christmas in Old Town, hosted by the City of Florissant and Old Town Partners.

The event will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today, Saturday, Dec. 8 in the Florissant City Council Chambers.

Kids will enjoy visiting with Santa Claus and participating in fun activities such as face painting, music, storytelling and crafts. Plus, a holiday clown will make balloon animals.

Kids can also shop at the “children’s boutique” which will feature inexpensive gifts they can buy for $3 or less. And the grown-ups will be happy to know that many of the retail shops and restaurants in Old Town will also be open.

After the festivities in the Chamber, everyone will move to the front lawn of City Hall, where the annual tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Mayor Schneider and the 2012 Valley of Flowers Queen, Monica Wilson, and her court will switch on the lights from the balcony to officially launch the holiday season in Florissant.
