Three officers received commendations, while three others received certificates of merit for their work in the community.

Mayor Tom Schneider and presented certificates and commendations to some of Florissant’s finest Monday night during the city council meeting.

Six received recognition for their police work as well as work in the community.

Officers Andrew Haarmann, Nick Osmer and Lessie Summers each received certificates of merit for their work with the police explorers group and taking six young members to the annual conference in Fort Collins, CO.

Officers Grant West and Chris Bockelmann received a commendation for their work in stopping a suspicious car that had no plates, violated a number of traffic violations and was found with heroin, marijuana and a loaded gun.

Officer Jarrod Coder accepted a commendation for the work he and Officer Jeffrey Seerey, who was unable to attend, did in June. He and Seerey stopped dangerous individuals who had tried to flee police custody but were caught and found with a stolen gun, heroin, marijuana and more than $2,000.

Officer Osmer received a commendation for his thorough investigation of a car that he had stopped due to a traffic stop and found a gun, marijuana and a off-white rock like substance hidden in the car.
