The Olivette Patch launches this Thursday.

This is the first new stand-alone Patch to be added to he St. Louis lineup since 24 were launched almost two years ago.

Why so you ask?

We felt this would be a good service to the vibrant City of Olivette.

We are always looking at new and different ways to bring this style of local hyper internet news to the many progressive St. Louis communities. Obviously, we cannot cover everyone everywhere.

Olivette makes a lot of sense. This inner-urban community of some 7,500 residents is a very nice play to live, work and play. The motto of the city is “Olivette, in the Center of it All.” Olivette is located right smack in the middle of St. Louis County. It is a jumping off point to all the other communities, the airport, and it is not far from the city limits of St. Louis.

Olivette residents are well educated. Well over 90 percent of the residents have a minimum of an undergraduate degree. New homes are being built and Olivette is served by the Ladue School District, the top performing public school system in the metro year in and year out.

There’s much to do. Thousands flock to Stacy Park annually for outdoor recreation. Patrons can dine on Tex Mex food at Chevy’s or a farm-table breakfast at the Olivette diner.

The recently-developed Shoppes at Price Crossing features a Starbucks, Fallon’s Irish Pub, Vantage Credit Union, L’Ecole Culinaire Cooking School and other fine business establishments.

The Olivette Patch will be a shared project of local editors Maggie Rotermund of University City, Gregg Palmero of Creve Coeur and Jim Baer of Ladue-Frontenac.

We urge you to sign up for the Olivette Newsletter, free in your inbox every day and "like" the Olivette Facebook page too.

Let the good times roll in Olivette starting Thursday.
