Maplewood's has reopened, and on Saturday, mayor James White was there to make it official.

A group of veterans helped Post Commander Ray Birmingham cut the ribbon.

Birmingham said they still have a lot of work to do, and the group will have raffles and barbeques to raise funds.

"It's amazing how many people have been helping out and calling in with their support," he said.

He said the group has 50 members, and said it's also currently open to the public Wednesday through Sunday.

The building has two pool tables, two dart boards and two horse shoe pits. Leagues in darts and horse shoes will start soon. There's also live music.

The Maplewood American Legion hall opened in 1920. It was originally called the Shaw Stevens Post, named after two Maplewood men killed in action in World War I.
