Maplewood dogs will be splish-splashing away at a new inground pool that will be up and running this summer at Maplewood Dog Park.
The Maplewood City Council approved a resolution at Tuesday’s meeting to accept a bid from All Things Constructed for $6,500 to install the pool. The 10-by-13-foot concrete pool will be surrounded by a 4-foot sidewalk.
“The project will be paid for through money raised from events like the dog swim sponsored by the dog park’s not-for-profit group,” said Marty Corcoran, city manager. “There will be no cost at all to the taxpayers.”
Corcoran did not know how deep the pool would be, but said that it would be installed in the “big dog” portion of the park and would replace the plastic pool. He added that construction would begin fairly soon so the pool will be open by summer.
In other business, the council:
- Renewed its contract for $30,090 with the St. Louis County Police Department for computer-aided report entry services. The service allows Maplewood officers to spend more time on the street instead of at the station writing reports;
- Approved a bid for $14, 215 from The Designery for a brick monument sign for City Hall;
- and accepted a bid for $6,000 from Fireworks Press to decorate five utility boxes along Manchester Road. The boxes will have a Maplewood historical theme.
