New South County Chamber of Commerce President Fred Baras said they only way businesses can survive in this economy is working together. And the chamber, he said, was the perfect place for camaraderie.
Baras and the rest of the new chamber officers and board members were inducted Friday afternoon at Andre's Banquet Center.
"There's a lot that is going on in South County," Baras told the crowd. "For our chamber to be successful, we need people like you."
Baras said he was excited about the beautification projects and road improvements the chamber would work on in 2012. His wife, Carole, was the president of the chamber 15 years ago.
The New Year brings a new change to the chamber as the office will be relocating to Crescent Lane, near Toys 'R' Us. Executive Director Donna Schumann said the chamber office will move by the end of February and have an open house in the spring.
The chamber also welcomed new members from American Eagle Credit Union, Commerce Bank, Embroidery for You, Gift Basket Glam, Mr. Electric, United Background Screening and Service Master.
