Two soon-to-be Bedford High School graduates and one Trinity High School senior are among the 40 New Hampshire students who have been nominated by U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte to attend one of the nation's service academies in 2013.

Bedford High School senior James Delahunty will attend the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY, while fellow-Bulldog Anders Holt will attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY, according to a press release from Ayotte's office. Colin Bouchard, who attends Trinity, will join Holt at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

"It's an honor to nominate outstanding young people to be considered for admission to our nation's service academies," Ayotte said in a statement. "These young men and women have excelled inside and outside the classroom while making valuable contributions to their local communities. They represent some of the very best of New Hampshire and I expect great things from them in the future."

To be considered for appointment to a service academy, applicants must be nominated by a Member of Congress or other authorized nominating source.  Sen. Ayotte hosted a reception in honor of the nominees on Jan. 3 at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord.
