$52K Raised at NHTI's 2017 Winter Fling

CONCORD, NH — NHTI, Concord’s Community College, held its 2017 Winter Fling on Jan. 28, 2017. The event, which includes Dancing with the Concord Stars, raised money for the President’s Fund for Excellence, which provides scholarships to students and additional funding for the school, according to its website.

This year was the seventh straight sold-out Winter Fling, according to the organizer. The Buy-a -Vote raised almost $3,000, the second highest total ever, and the overall event is expected to bring in $52,000 for the fund, also the second highest total.

Dance couples were selected for awards, including our own Patch Editor, Tony Schinella, who took home the People’s Choice Award with dance partner, Tammy Amnott.

Best Hip Movement: Kim McDonald, Merrimack County Savings Bank and James Gallagher III, Merrimack County Savings Bank

Most Entertaining: Laurie Bienefeld, Northeast Delta Dental and Joe Messineo, Realtor/Musician

Hot Stuff Award: Tristin Craigue, The Dupont Group and Conner St. Laurent,Centennial Inn

Best Technical Skills and the Best Overall: Amanda Orlowskyj, Salon K and Craig Thibaudeau, Granite State Gymnastics

Most Dramatic: Kathy Mathis, New Hampshire Humanities and Jeff Mathis, BAE Systems

Best Footwork: Pamela Puleo, Concord Hospital and David Sangiorgio, The Concord Monitor

Most Creative and People’s Choice Award: Tammy Amnott, Farms & Barns Real Estate LLC and Tony Schinella, Concord Patch

Best Theme: Bridget Overson, Marketing & Design Specialist and Harry Richos, Vianor Tire and Auto Service

Best Costume: Jane Kolias, NH Audubon McLane Center and Phil Braley, Cleveland, Waters & Bass, P.A.

Most Theatrical: Jess Hardiman, NHTI class of 2012, Concord Public Schools and Chad Johnson, NHTI class of 2013, NHTI Adjunct Professor

Most Graceful: Mary Jane Ricker, The Provident Bank and James F. Raymond, Upton & Hatfield

Winter Fling 2018 has already been scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 27.
