Boloco Sells Concord Location
Five of the burrito restaurants will become B.Good local source fast food locations Oct. 17; Hanover, Boston Boloco locations remain open.

CONCORD, NH — Boloco, the popular Boston-based burrito eatery, has sold five of its locations, including the Fort Eddy Road in Concord, to the B.Good restaurant chain, according to an email to customers. On Oct. 16, 2016, the Boloco locations will re-open as B.Good.
Boloco currently has 21 locations, according to its website, mostly in Massachusetts. The company has two locations in New Hampshire and single locations in Rhode Island and Vermont. The company’s Hanover location will remain open. The Concord location has been open for about eight years. Employees in Concord are being asked to stay on with B.Good.
“When we opened in 2008, it was one of our first locations that had no foot traffic,” Boloco CEO John Pepper said in the email. “And everyone told us we were crazy because the Boston Market that preceded us was doing so poorly. But in time, the Concord community came to support us, more than I could have imagined. Were it not 100 percent necessary (which it is), there is simply no way I would let this incredible restaurant go.”

B.Good, a family chain that started in 2006, bills itself as a fast food restaurant that serves real food from local farmers without antibiotics. B.Good has 45 locations around the United States – from Maine to North Carolina – and two overseas. There is only one other B.Good location currently in New Hampshire, located in Nashua.
Pepper spoke about the changes as well as with Anthony Ackil, the CEO and co-founder of B.Good, on YouTube below.

Pepper said the sale had to be done in order to keep Boloco, which has been having a number of growth and revenue problems over the years, in business. The CEO spoke at the Fast Casual Executive Summit this week about the state of the business including the push for higher wages for fast worker workers, according to PizzaMarketPlace.com.
"If I paid what my competitors pay it would earn me $1.3 million, but I'm not going to pull the lever down,” he reportedly stated at an employee relations/training seminar.
Pepper and Ackil in the video talked about their long-time comradery and work together in various settings; Ackil started working with Pepper years before starting his own chain. B.Good hopes to grow to 60 locations in the coming months.
In the email, Boloco customers were told that if they have credits with the Boloco Passport program, they should use them by Sunday or, if they can’t, use them at the Hanover location or any of the 10 Boston locations that will remain open. The company will be refunding gift cards that were purchased by emailing hello@boloco.com.
