When firefighters arrived, smoke was showing from the building. Fire prevention investigated the cause of the fire and found that it was possibly from a fan above a stove. The damage was limited to the stove, cabinets and the wall behind.
"An alert neighbor heard the commotion and grabbed an extinguisher from the hallway and put out the small fire," Andrus said.
