Despite the snowstorm in Concord, more than 30 attended the rally to show support for safe drinking water and rivers.
CONCORD, NH — More than 30 people braved the snowstorm to Stand with Standing Rock at the Statehouse in Concord Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016. They declared that they will not stop fighting for justice, safe drinking water and rivers.
Concerned residents gathered peacefully to show support for and educate people about Standing Rock~Oceti Sakowin campsite on the Standing Rock Reservation and the controversial pipeline proposal. The groups oppose the Dakota Access Pipeline and encourage protecting the river, drinking water, and people, including Water Protectors, Indigenous and all people concerned about pipeline risks. Despite being asked to stop drilling, Energy Transfer Partners, the pipeline developers, has decided to keep drilling.
Thousands are staying in the camps in North Dakota to protect the water supply to all the people in the area. Speakers will share information about the opposition, the inhumane treatment of the water protectors, the sacred Native American burial grounds being desecrated by the pipeline, the importance of protecting the river water, and the dangers of ecocide. Additionally updates from North Dakota camps, local actions, and donation information will be available.
