Man Pulled from Round Pond after Car Plunges into Water

The man was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Rescuers pulled from man from Round Pond at about 5:30 p.m., after his car plunged into the frigid water.

Nashua Fire Engine Company 5 and Ladder Company 1 crews responded to a reported car accident off Exit 8 in Nashua at about 5 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a red Honda Pilot was submerged in about 3 feet of water approximately 50 feet from the shore, beside Harcros Chemicals.

Rescuers used a thermal imaging camera to locate a man's body, found about 30 feet beyond the vehicle, in the water.

A water rescue was conducted in the frigid waters and the man was pulled to shore. He was initially reported as breathing but unconscious, and transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.  

Ladder 2 provided and additional search of the area to verify no additional persons were involved. Engine 5 and Ladder 1 remained on scene to assist a tow truck with hooking up the vehicle for removal. Operators from D&R Towing pulled the mid-sized SUV onto shore just after 6:30 p.m.

No information was released about the man's identity or the circumstances surrounding how the vehicle ended up in Round Pond.
