Nashua Mosque Vandalism: $1K Reward Offered

A reward is being offered for information on recent vandalism to a Nashua mosque.

NASHUA, NH — A reward is being offered for information about recent vandalism to a Nashua mosque. On Sunday at about 8:15 p.m., someone threw a rock through a window of the Islamic Society for Greater Nashua while worshipers were inside. Police said they're looking for three youth suspects who were also seen throwing rock at a city park sign near the mosque 20 minutes earlier.

The vandalism happened on the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations condemned the vandalism.

“Whenever any house of worship is attacked in this manner, law enforcement authorities should investigate a possible bias motive for the crime,” said Massachusetts chapter Executive Director John Robbins in a statement, adding the incident comes "at a time of rising Islamophobia nationwide."

The council this week announced a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the suspects.

“It is important that the perpetrators of these crimes be apprehended and their motives be established,” said council National Executive Director Nihad Awad. “The spike in incidents targeting American Muslims and their institutions is the inevitable result of the ongoing mainstreaming of Islamophobia we are witnessing in our society.”
