Liberty Utilities announced Thursday they have received all needed state and federal approvals to acquire National Grid's power and natural gas business in New Hampshire, <a href="http://m.prnewswire.com/news-releases/algonquin-power--utilities-corp-announces-approval-of-new-hampshire-electricity-and-natural-gas-distribution-acquisition-155829325.html" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">according to a press release on the Liberty Utilities website</a>. National Grid services Salem, Windham and several other communities in southern New Hampshire in addition to other areas in the state. A total of 87,000 natural gas and 43,000 electrical customers are serviced by National Gride in the state. According to release, service "will continue seamlessly" despite the acquisition by Liberty Utilities. They anticipate the closure of the deal by either the last week of June or early July. "Approval was granted based on both companies committing resources to support a smooth transition of natural gas and electric service to Liberty Utilities," according to the release. "We appreciate the thorough review of the transaction by regulatory officials and parties to the proceedings in New Hampshire," said Victor Del Vecchio, president, Liberty Utilities East, in the statement. "We now look forward to the day we start providing our local and responsive service to business and residential customers in New Hampshire." Liberty Utilities presently opoerates in Arizona, California, Illinois, Missouri and Texas
