Robert C. Saxer of Barnegat Dies At 77

Robert C. Saxer, 77, of Barnegat, passed Monday, May 5, 2014.
Born on Sept. 11, 1936, he was raised and lived at the shore all his life. Mostly in his native state of New Jersey, but he also spent 2.5 years at the shore in Florida and three years on the Atlantic in Spain.
Bob was a proud member of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Yosemite AD 19. He then served with Fighter Squadron VF 13, where he crossed the Arctic Circle and became a member of the "Royal Order of the Blue None" Organization.
Bob received two Good Conduct Medals and was proud that he established and opened the first library at the then-new Naval Base in Rota, Spain.
A graduate of Monmouth College, Bob retired as account manager after serving 41 years with Weyerhaeuser Corp.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Martha (Rodriguez); his parents, John and Helen Saxer; and his brother, Lt. John F. Saxer, USN ret. He is survived by his children, Jose Saxer, "Phillip" Saxer and wife Victoria; grandchildren, Maxmous and Madelyn; his most precious daughter, Isabel Maria Saxer-Dasti and husband William; grandchildren, Tiffany, Antonio, Skylar and his name sake, Ian Robert Saxer; his "second" daughter, Karen Malinka. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
