This Is All That's Left After Truck Catches Fire In Basking Ridge
"I've been around a long time and have never seen a vehicle consumed to that degree," Basking Ridge Fire Chief Jack McGrath.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — An entire pickup truck was literally engulfed and consumed by flames on I-287 on Monday morning in Basking Ridge.
Basking Ridge Fire Company No. 1 got a call about the fire at 8:42 a.m. on the southbound side near exit 26 in Bernards Township.
"When we arrived there was a fully involved fire of a Ford F-150 that was burning heavily,” Fire Chief Jack McGrath said.

He attributed the intensity of the fire to the new aluminum body the newer models of that line of trucks now has. He noted how intense the heat and fire was that when they finished extinguishing it, there was nothing left of the truck.
“The fire was so intense that it actually disintegrated the vehicle,” McGrath said. “I’ve been around a long time and have never seen a vehicle consumed to that degree.”
