Police arrested John L. Lodato, 24, of Fieldstone Drive in Bernards Township early Friday morning and charged him with posting sexually explicit photos of a female on the Internet without the female's consent.
The charge, invasion of privacy, is a third degree crime which carries the potential of 3-5 years in jail if a defendant is found guilty. Lodato was released on his own recognizance.
The victim had filed a complaint in with police in Warren County, where she lives. The case was given to the The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit.
The county police and Bernards Township Police Department went to Lodato's residence at 6:15 a.m. Friday where they say Lodato was placed under arrest without incident.
The arrest was jointly announced by Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Timothy Fitzgerald, Somerset County Sheriff Frank J. Provenzano and Bernards Township Chief of Police Brian Bobowicz.
An arrest is not a conviction, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
