Paterson Man Arrested for March House Burglary

The following information has been provided by the Nutley Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Paterson Man Arrested for March House Burglary

April 12:
Clifton police arrested a 29-year-old Paterson man driving a car he stole in Montclair around midnight and charged him with a March 26 McKinley Avenue house burglary.

When Jason Burgos-Colon was arrested, police discovered items reported stolen from the home burglary.

In addition, Clifton police — in conjunction with Paramus police — searched Burgos-Colon’s Nutley home and discovered other items stolen from the McKinley Avenue home. Burgos-Colon also cooperated with police and helped recover other items stolen. 

Nutley police charged Burgos-Colon with burglary and theft. He faces additional charges from Passaic, Montclair, Paramus and Clifton police.

He was transported to Passaic County jail and is being held on $50,000 bail from Nutley.

April 13:

Nutley police were called to a North Spring Garden home at 8:37 a.m. when a resident reported someone had sprayfoamed words on their car.


Nutley police were called to the intersection of Park Drive and Chestnut Street at 8:07 p.m. for a suspicious-looking suitcase. Police contacted the Essex County Bomb Squad, who disposed of the suitcase.

April 15:

A Myrtle Avenue resident told police someone broke the rear window of their 2011 Honda overnight.

April 16:

Nutley police are investigating an incident where someone painted graffiti all over the side of a resident’s home.

Nutley police are also investigating an incident at 4:23 p.m. where someone painted graffiti on a dugout of a Bloomfield Avenue ballfield.


Nutley police and rescue squad were called to Yantacaw Park at 4:27 p.m. when a child fell off a swing and injured her arm. She was taken to an area hospital for her injuries.


At 6:22 p.m., a Surrey Ct resident told police his social security number had been used when attempting to file his taxes. Police and IRS agents are investigating the incident.


Nutley police are investigating the overnight theft of two car emblems from a Walnut Street driveway at 7:12 p.m.

April 17:

At 1:17 a.m., a Park Avenue tenant told police a ceiling fell causing minor injuries and damage. The building superintendent was notified of the potential hazard.


Nutley police are investigating the theft of several thousand dollars worth of tools taken from a locked basement storage bin. 

The tenant returned to the building at 8:11 p.m. and discovered the basement storage bin had been emptied of tools and the lock was cut.


A 35-year-old High Street man who was reported missing at 10:50 p.m., returned home and was arrested on outstanding warrants charges, police said.

Ralph Runyan of Nutley was arrested after police found he had a $1,083 warrant from Plainfield and $638 from Bridgewater.

Runyan was later turned over to Plainfield police.

April 18:

A 39-year-old Paterson man was arrested at 12:51 p.m. for contempt after he was unwilling to pay a fine imposed by a Nutley municipal court judge.

Robert Moore was given a five-day sentence and taken to the  Essex County Jail in Newark.  

April 19:

Police are investigating the theft of a prescription pad at 10:26 a.m. from Franklin Avenue Doctors Office in which the thief allegedly tried to fill false prescriptions in Newark.


A Nutley resident was informed by a local bank someone in New York had attempted to withdraw money from his account. Police are investigating.


An apartment resident told police at 1:29 p.m. other tenants are harassing her. Police are investigating.


Nutley police were called to Nutley High School at 2:49 p.m. when a student allegedly threatened a teacher. Charges are pending.
