St. Mary and St. Mercurius Festival

Congregation Comes Together for Annual Celebration

The St. Mary and St. Mercurius Coptic Orthodox Church in Academy Street held its annual festival during the last couple of weekends, Oct. 1-2 and Oct. 8-9.

A huge tent was errected at the church grounds for the Egyptian bazaar, where various religious articles, fashion accessories and food were sold.

During the two weekends of festivities, families were treated to a range of games and entertainment including carnival and arcade games, Pharaoh Studio, church tours, and live Coptic music.

Food booths featured Egyptian ethnic dishes like the Makarona Bashamel, chicken and beef kabob, pita bread, salad and kofta, and desserts such as baklava, zalavia, konafa and basbosa.
