Fire At Junkyard On Double Trouble Road Now Out, Roadways Will Open Soon

Firefighters from multiple fire companies have extinguished the junkyard fire on Double Trouble Road, and the roadway and Exit 77 on the parkway are being reopened, according to the Berkeley Township Police Department's Facebook page.

The fire was reportedly in an iron pile at Eastern Metals on Double Trouble Road. A tanker task force and foam trucks were requested and multiple hand lines were in service, according to the Ocean County Police, Fire & EMS Facebook page.

The area is in the Pinelands in Bayville, with few hydrants available.

Traffic was bumper to bumper on the Parkway. Police directed everyone heading south to get off at Exit 80, a caller said.

Police and emergency service workers are also hampered by a multi-vehicle accident near Exit 80 on the parkway. This is a breaking news story. Come back to Patch when more information is available.
