UPDATE: Fatal Berkeley House Fire Ruled Accidental: OCPO

A 93-year-old woman died in the age-restricted Holiday City section, according to officials.

BERKELEY, N.J. — A Holiday City house fire that killed a 93-year-old woman Monday night was ruled an accident, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said Wednesday. An investigation determined contents of a closet being too close to a light fixture caused the fire.

Berkeley police and several fire departments responded to the fire at 66 Castle Harbor Dr. Officials encountered heavy fire from the rear of the residence and a possible entrapment inside.

Emergency personnel located the woman, who was not identified, and removed her from the home. She was pronounced dead on the scene. The Ocean County Medical Examiner said she died from smoke inhalation.
