Deer Caused Driver to Flip SUV, Cops Say

A 23-year-old driver whose vehicle overturned when he swerved to avoid a deer on Anderson Hill Road early Monday morning was issued a summons for inattentive driving, Bernardsville Police said.

The report says a Nissan Exterra driven by Grant Keilley, of Bernardsville, was heading southbound on Anderson Hill Road in the borough when the driver tried to avoid a deer, and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then rolled over "numerous times" before coming to rest, the report said. The report said the accident took place at about 12:18 a.m.

Police Lt. Demmings Hoadley said that both Keilley and a passenger, Richard Russoniello of Bernardsville, were unhurt following the accident.

However, according to the report, Keilley was issued a summons for "driver inattention." Investigating officer was Patrol Officer Daniel Buttel, the report said.
