Middle school students are learning about healthy eating – one bite at a time.
This week, students at Bloomfield Middle School learned how they can incorporate healthier eating habits into their lives. The school’s food provider Chartwells sponsored its Chefs 2 Schools program where guest chefs adopt a local school district and make occasional visits throughout the year and talk about healthy eating choices.
On Tuesday, Chef Douglas Kulp hosted a sampling table event where students from Bloomfield Middle School tasted a variety of healthy menu choices, such as vegetarian chili, wheat berry salad and blood oranges.
“We are thrilled to present our kids with the opportunity to learn how to prepare healthy food choices through Chartwells’ Chefs 2 Schools program,” said Chartwells Director of Dining Services for Bloomfield Public Schools Leslie Torres.
“Together with Chartwells, we hope that our ongoing partnership will help students understand the need for healthy habits and most importantly, the benefits of being healthy.”
The Chefs 2 Schools program is aimed at at creating a focus on healthy meals and helping to educate students about sound eating habits and healthy food preparation.
