Brick Police: Drivers Being Pulled From Trapped Cars On Princeton Avenue; Hail Seen From Storm

Scattered thunderstorms, heavy rain causing problems in town, police say

Flash flooding has trapped cars on Princeton Avenue in Brick, a result of heavy storms moving through the area this afternoon, Brick Police Sgt. Henry Drew told News12 New Jersey in an interview this afternoon.

The storm brought with it hail and heavy rain in isolated thunderstorms moving through Ocean County at this time. The National Weather Service has issued a severe storm warning for parts of Brick, Point Pleasant, Point Pleasant Beach and southeastern Monmouth County until 2 p.m.

There are scattered power outages in the area of Princeton Avenue and Route 88, according to the Jersey Central Power and Light outage map.

There are between 1,500 customers without power in Point Pleasant as of 1:20 p.m., according to JCP&L, but the cause of the outage is under investigation, according to a post on the Point Pleasant Office of Emergency Management Facebook page.
