"It was a special week for the learning community," said Superintendent Walter Uszenski.
Drum Point’s fourth grade students discovered the joy of writing, developed keen observation skills, found freedom in imagination, and were able to see the power of their own voice through a poet residency.
Therese Halscheid, a professional artist-in-residence, worked with the Drum Point students. Together, they were engaged in the writing process, had fun with words and language, and as their confidence increased, so did their writing ability.
Students participated in imaginative activities and writing exercises; examined the works of other writers; practiced feedback and revision; and shared their work with one another.
