Hooper Avenue In Brick Reopened After Vehicle Fire: Sheriff

Smoke from the fire could be seen billowing into the sky several blocks, witnesses said.

BRICK, NJ — (Updated, 2:45 p.m.) Hooper Avenue in Brick has reopened after firefighters extinguished a vehicle fire, authorities said Monday afternoon.

Brick Township police and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office both sent Nixle alerts about the closure about 1:45 p.m. but by 2:30 p.m. the road was reopened, authorities said.

The road, known to longtime residents as Old Hooper Avenue, was affected from the intersection with Beaverson Boulevard to the Drum Point Road intersection, authorities said.

Witnesses said thick black smoke billowing into the sky could be seen several blocks away as a result of the fire.
