Man Airlifted After Suffering Burns

A man was flown to a burn center on board a medevac helicopter early Sunday morning, though the circumstances surrounding the incident remain sketchy.

Brick Police as well as Brick Police EMS and MONOC paramedics responded to a home on Lynnwood Ave. at 3:36 a.m. Sunday for a medical call, according to Brick Police Capt. John Rein.

The resident of the home, a 47 year old male, had what appeared to be third degree burns on his hands, chest and neck. The man was treated for his injuries, but the actual cause is unknown at this time, Rein said.

The Pioneer Hose and Breton Woods fire companies, as well as the Berkeley Township Haz-Mat team and Point Pleasant Decontamination Unit responded to check the residence for any hazardous conditions such as spilled chemicals or fire, though none were found.

The victim, who was home alone at the time of the call, was transported to the Burn Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center for treatment via MONOC medevac helicopter.
