ELIZABETH, N.J., October 1, 2015 -- Bridgeway Rehabilitation Services, the region’s largest psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery organization, will hold its 2015 Walk for Wellness on Saturday, October 10 at TD Bank Ball Park in Bridgewater, N.J.

“The funds raised from this annual event support the recovery goals of thousands of New Jerseyans overcoming mental illness. October is Mental Health Awareness Month. Our event brings attention to the fact that people with mental health disabilities have the potential to recover, be self‐sufficient and contribute to their communities,” said Cory Storch, president and CEO of Bridgeway.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the Walkathon starts at 12:30 p.m. – rain or shine. The walk -- up to 2.5 miles -- begins at the Ball Park entrance and travels around the park grounds with the final lap on the ball field. There will be refreshments for all on the Ball Park Concourse.

The Walkathon’s sponsors are Rapps Pharmacy of Plainfield, Investors Bank, and the Rotary Club of Elizabeth. Entertainment will be provided by New Jersey rock and soul band GoodWorks, which helps nonprofits with fundraising efforts. To learn more or to register, visit www.bridgewayrehab.com.

Bridgeway recently produced a series of public service announcements, which will be broadcast on local TV stations as well as on its website. The videos feature interviews with several of the people Bridgeway serves, which were recorded during Bridgeway’s annual award ceremony that recognizes their progress towards recovery.

“We are proud of the accomplishments of the people we serve. We appreciate their bravery in sharing their stories about achieving their recovery goals. Whether it is Mental Health Awareness Month or any time of year, we hope to make the public aware that with the support that organizations like ours provide, people with mental illness can improve their lives,” said Storch.
