Car Fire Sets House Ablaze In Bridgewater, Injures Firefighter

One family is displaced and the first-alarm fire remains under investigation.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A firefighter was injured and a family is displaced after a car caught on fire in a garage spreading to the home on Tuesday night.

On Nov. 7 at around 11:32 p.m., Bridgewater Police and Firefighters got a call reporting a vehicle on fire in the garage of 63 Stella Drive.

That first-alarm fire spread to the garage attached to the house, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Kevin Lamey.

Volunteers from Green Knoll Fire Department, Bradley Gardens Volunteer Fire Company, Country Hills Volunteer Fire Company, North Branch Volunteer Fire Company, and Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department all came to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters found the homeowners outside of the home when they arrived, said Green Knoll Fire Captain Jimmy Driscoll.

None of the residents were injured but one firefighter was taken to the hospital to evaluate an injury reported at the scene. He has since been released, said Driscoll.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Township Fire Official’s Office.
