A section of Country Club Road, between Route 22 and Garretson Road, is closed Friday while police investigate a possible explosive found in one of the homes.

UPDATE: A rocket-propelled grenade was found in the basement of a home, but determined to be inert.

According to Bridgewater Township Police Sgt. Rich Shimp, the homeowner found a non-detonated military ordinance in her basement, and a neighbor called it in to the police around 5 p.m.

"A family member of [the homeowner's] was a veteran, we think," he said.

Shimp said they are waiting on the state police to arrive, investigate the ordinance and give the all-clear.

An evacuation is currently in place around the home on Country Club Road, and all nearby residents have been evacuated.

The Green Knoll Fire Department and Martinsville Rescue Squad are also on scene.

Patch will update as more information is available.
