Firefighters Battle Fully Engulfed Car Fire In Bridgewater

The car caught fire around 2 p.m. on Friday while the driver was on Route 22 West.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — It was definitely a hot day for volunteer Bridgewater firefighters who battled a car fire near the Chimney Rock shopping center on Friday.

Around 2 p.m., Finderne Firefighters were called Route 22 West and Chimney Rock Road for a vehicle fire.

The driver of a brown Buick was driving on Route 22 when her car caught fire. She took the exit for Chimney Rock Road and then got of the car without injury, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Kevin Lamey.

Finderne Chief 30, Assistant 30, Engine 301, and Engine 303 extinguished the fire without incident.

The Finderne Fire Department, which covers the southeast section of Bridgewater Township, is always looking for volunteers.

Volunteers are offered complete protective gear, free training, LOSAP (Length of Service Award Programs), a pay-per-call incentive, a life insurance/disability plan, and an in-house gym.
