T-Mobile To Construct 150-Foot Cell Tower At Bridgewater Library

Settlement between Bridgewater and T-Mobile moves the proposed cell tower from Green Knoll Volunteer Fire Co to the library.

Bridgewater, NJ -- A 150-foot cell tower will be constructed on the property shared by the Bridgewater Township Library as per a litigation settlement agreement between the town and T-Mobile.

The ordinance to allow T-Mobile to lease a portion of the property at 1 Vogt Drive, was finalized at the Bridgewater Township meeting on Monday, April 18.

The 150-foot cell tower will house up to five wireless carriers.

T-Mobile had originally planned to construct the cell tower at 606 North Bridge Street, the location of the Green Knoll Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1.

The cell company's application was denied in 2012 and they later filed suit. As part of the settlement, T-Mobile agreed to dismiss its application to build a cell tower at the Fire Station Site and instead build it at the library.

"The premises are more consistent with the objectives of the Township’s Zoning Code and more desirable within its surroundings than the proposed facility at the Fire Station Site," the ordinance stated.

"The premises has sufficient land area to allow for the collocation at least to five wireless carrier without negatively impacting the operation of the library facility," according to the ordinance.
