Tractor-Trailer Crashes Into Building, Traps Bridgewater Woman: Cops

The tractor-trailer crossed over the double yellow line and into oncoming traffic before it crashed into cars and a building, said police.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Emergency responders rescued a trapped Bridgewater woman in a building after police say a tractor-trailer crossed into oncoming traffic before crashing into multiple cars and the building on Tuesday.

On Tuesday at around 12:07 p.m., the Bridgewater Police Department was called to the area of 21 Finderne Ave. for a report of a motor vehicle into a building.

Officers determined that a 2012 Mack Truck, tractor-trailer, operated by Wesley Jefferson, 62, of Dansville, NY was driving north on Finderne Avenue when it crossed over the solid double yellow lines into the southbound lanes of travel, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Frederick Brittain.

Jefferson then hit a 2006 Ford Ranger operated by a 33-year-old Bridgewater woman. Jefferson continued driving north in the southbound lanes when it left the road and hit several parked vehicles and a building at 21 Finderne Ave., said Brittain.

The occupant of the building, a 63-year-old Bridgewater woman, was trapped in the building and rescued by officers on the scene.

Jefferson along with the driver of the Ranger and the trapped woman were taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital (New Brunswick) for their injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the Bridgewater Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.

The Finderne Fire Department, which covers the southeast section of Bridgewater Township, is always looking for volunteers.
