Woman Struck Crossing Passaic Avenue in West Caldwell

A woman struck by a car while attempting to cross a busy intersection in West Caldwell Tuesday night was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The 63-year-old woman from Bergenfield was crossing near the intersection of Bloomfield and Passaic avenues at approximately 7:45 p.m. when police say she was hit by a Honda Civic traveling northbound in the right lane of Passaic Avenue. The driver of the Honda was a 65-year-old woman from Caldwell, police said.

The pedestrian, who was not crossing at a crosswalk according to police, was transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital by the West Essex First Aid Squad for treatment of moderate, non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
