Ken Griffey Sr. To Speak At Cancer Fundraiser In Chatham

The former Cincinnati Reds player is a prostate cancer survivor himself.

CHATHAM, NJ— Former Cincinnati Reds outfielder and prostate cancer survivor Ken Griffey Sr. will be speaking at a cancer research fundraising event in Chatham this Friday.

CSM Art & Frame in Chatham partnered with Oncology & Hematology Foundation (OHS) for the fundraiser. OHS offers educational resources to families coping with cancer, along with integrative services to improve patient outcomes. Attendees will be able to spend the night enjoying the gallery's artworks.

Griffey, a 3-time All-Star, is attending the event on behalf of Bayer's Men Who Speak Up, a program to increase awareness and decrease stigma around prostate cancer.

“I’ve lost four uncles to prostate cancer. It was a common topic in our home. Despite how much we’d talked about prostate cancer…when it came to my diagnosis, I was surprised by how hard it became to speak up,” says Griffey.

“I am thrilled to join forces with OHS Foundation and Men Who Speak Up on World Cancer Day,” said gallery owner, Caryn Krueger. “In addition to providing the space for an important conversation about this terrible disease, we are supporting programs that provide integrative healing services for oncology patients such as yoga, massage, aromatherapy, and nutrition.” Krueger will also contribute 10% of proceeds from any artwork sold at the event.
