Chatham Schools to Close Early Friday

The School District of the Chathams announced Thursday night that all Chatham schools will operate on an early dismissal schedule Friday.

The district may close schools Friday if the expected winter storm, called Nemo, worsens overnight Thursday.

Early dismissal schedules mean students will be dismissed at the following times:

Chatham Borough released a warning from the National Weather Service for the coming nor'easter, which is set to begin hitting the area late Thursday night.

The storm could last through Saturday morning and bring 8 in. of snow or more, plus winds of up to 40 miles-an-hour.

The winter storm known as Nemo is beginning in the coastal Carolinas, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), and the worst of it will hit the north Jersey area Friday.

NWS warns travelers to beware of travel delays.
