Interested in doing something special tonight, but haven't yet made plans?
Don't fret—you can stay in town. A few Chatham restaurants are offering special menus this New Year's night. Make sure to reserve a spot if you're interested in going.
* Scalini Fedeli's five course menu costs $100 per person. Each guest will be served Ecuadorian shrimp sauteed with fennel, petite peas and portobella in an orange scented saffron sauce to start, and will then have the opportunity to choose between several mostly pasta-based appetizers. A roast beet and goat cheese salad is the bridge between that and dinner (Chilean sea bass and pan seared diver scallops are among the entrees). The evening ends with dessert. 63 Main St. 973-701-9200.
* Tolima is offering special prix fixe menus for $45 or $55 per person. The menus feature four courses, and patrons can choose between four entrees—pan seared filet mignon topped with porcini mushroom and foie gras butter
over white truffle demi is one of the choices—and several desserts. 641 Shunpike Road. 973-410-0070.
* A Taste of Asia features a $28 three-course menu. If you go, you'll be able to choose from a list of four appetizers (such as a tropical mango salad with kumquat dressing and stuffed eggplant with shrimp) and nine fish, chicken, or beef entrees. A Malaysian mango pudding completes the offerings. 245 Main St. 973-701-8821.
* Restaurant Serenade is booked for the night, so you're out of luck if you'd like to go there. But it will have a $85 per person seating at 5:30pm, and those seated at that meal will be entitled to four courses, and a second seating, which costs $195 per person, will feature five courses. Champagne, music by the band Hoi Polloi and dancing round out the second seating. 6 Roosevelt Ave. 973-701-0303.
Plenty of other restaurants along Main Street and in the township are providing regular service. But make sure to secure a reservation if you plan on going on anywhere, because the crowd downtown tonight is likely to be busy.
And please, enjoy your New Year's.
