VIDEO: Sullivan 'Committed' to Township

Low taxes, community involvement a priority for Kevin Sullivan.

Kevin Sullivan is one of two Republican candidates seeking his party's nomination for the open Committee seat available this May.

Sullivan attended Penn State on an ROTC scholarship. After graduation, he was commissioned into the US Marines and then worked in Manhattan in the financial sector, where he has been employed for 23 years.

While attending Penn State, Sullivan met his wife, Cindy. The two of them have lived in Chatham Township for 22 years. They have two children—a son, currently a student at Penn State, and a daughter, currently a student at . Both children attended , where Sullivan was involved in athletics.

Sullivan has served on the Chatham Township Planning Board since 2008, first as an alternate member and now as a full member. He was involved in the board's hearings and deliberations on the market garden ordinance, which ended in the ordinance's passing by both the planning board and the Chatham Township Committee.

The thing that makes the township a special place to live, Sullivan said, is the people who live in it. "They're committed to their families, to their children, to the schools, to each other, to the community," Sullivan said, and he hopes to play a role in guiding that commitment by serving on the committee.

"From a standpoint of governance, I think Chatham Township is a model," Sullivan said. "It's run effectively, and I think there's a lot of talent on the [committee.]"

Primary elections take place Tuesday, June 5. The GOP race for the Chatham Township is the only contested race in the borough or township.
