This year, the Chatham High School wrestling team got involved with a toy drive through the Union Police Department thanks to junior Dylan Mulcahy.

Mulcahy's uncle Michael Boll does a toy drive each year through the Township of Union's police department, in which he is an officer. Usually, Mulcahy said, the toy drive is centered among Union schools and businesses, but this year "after Hurricane Sandy hit, he thought it'd be a good idea to spread it out."

The high school team, along with the youth wrestling teams, are collecting new unwrapped toys to donate. Mulcahy said the team spoke with Chatham High Principal Darren Groh about getting a box in the front entrance of the school for people to drop off toys.

"We're taking them anytime before Christmas," Mulcahy said. "Just if people can give something, anything would be nice."

If residents have toys to donate after Christmas, they can drop off donations at the Union Police Department through Dec. 27.

"All the toys we collect will go to the shore community," Mulcahy said.
