South Jersey Nursing Home Accused Of Abuse
Allegations include a dementia patient being tied to a wheelchair and covered in a blanket.

A former charge nurse at a South Jersey nursing home claims she was fired after bringing forth allegations of abuse, Fox 29 reports.
Nikki Thompson worked at the Voorhees Center Nursing Home for eight years, but was forced to leave her job after bringing forth allegations of abuse, according to the report.
Alleged abuse includes a recently deceased 85-year-old woman who suffered from dementia being tied to a wheelchair and covered with a blanket on Aug. 16, according to the report.

The nursing home allegedly tried to cover up the restraint, which was never approved by a doctor and never confirmed by the facility, by changing records, according to the report. However, the facility was cited in the incident.
Department of Health records and federal inspection records found conditions at the nursing home constitute “immediate jeopardy to resident health and safety. That citing was lifted the same day when quick changes were made, according to the report.

Reports of unspecified abuse of a 73-year-old man with alzheimer’s have also surfaced online, according to nj.com.
After reporting alleged abuses, Thompson claims she received a note that read “snitches get stitches.”
She has filed a lawsuit against the nursing home and its owner, Genesis Healthcare, according to the report.
Genesis Healthcare didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from Patch Tuesday morning.
