Police: Man Sold Fake Nike Gear at Flea Market

A 39-year-old Philadelphia man was charged with trademark counterfeiting after items he was selling at the Tacony Palmyra Flea Market were identified as knockoffs, police said.

Palmyra security officers at the flea market noticed Nike and Timberland counterfeit items—more than 200 of them, at 11:30 a.m., Sept. 22.

The accused, Abdou Gakou, told police he had receipts for every product, however he only produced valid receipts for some of them, reports said.

Investigators who specialize in trademark counterfeiting were notified and identified the items as counterfeit.

Gakou was arrested and charged with trademark counterfeiting, forgery and criminal simulation. He was released, pending court.
