Five Things to Do in Collingswood This Week

Seasonal specials are the name of the game this week, with the Collingswood Holiday Parade and town tree lighting, a Thanksgiving football game, and model train show.

Five Things to Do in Collingswood This Week

1. Collingswood Board of Education Meeting

Monday, Nov. 19—7 p.m. at Zane North Elementary

Come out to the first meeting of the Board since the November elections. The agenda for the evening will include more discussion about the upcoming bond refunding issue.

2. Thanksgiving Day Football Game

Thursday, Nov. 22—11 a.m. at Collingswood High School

Your Collingswood Panthers take on the Silver Knights of Sterling Regional High School in a holiday classic. Catch up with all your old classmates, share a cordial toast with your neighbor, and warm up before a big family dinner.

3. Tree Lighting

Friday, Nov. 23—7 p.m. at Collingswood Borough Hall

"Santa descends from atop Borough Hall by way of the Collingswood Fire Department’s ladder truck – just in time for the Borough’s official Tree Lighting Ceremony. Choral groups will sing as the town tree is lit up with twinkling lights and season’s greetings are made by Mayor Jim Maley and Commissioners Joan Leonard and Mike Hall."

4. Holiday Parade

Saturday, Nov. 24—10 a.m.-noon; Haddon Ave. from Zane to Linden avenues

Bands, dancers, entertainers and floats will line Haddon Avenue along with antique and historic cars and motorcycles, the Phillie Phanatic, Mummers—what else do you need? With this year's theme—"Jingle All the Way"— expect to hear sleigh bells.

5. Train Show and Stained Glass Tour

Saturday, Nov. 24—10 a.m.-4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Collingswood

Right after the Holiday Parade, head over to First Baptist Church for the South Jersey "S" Gaugers Train Show and Stained Glass Window Tour. Guests will be treated to free cookies, hot chocolate and coffee, with Christmas crafts, coloring and activities for kids.
