Cranford, NJ – April 15, 2014 – The Cranford Jaycees, a volunteer civic organization focused on helping the local community, today announced significant donations made to two local organizations – Cranford Family Care and the Cranford First Aid Squad – from two fundraising activities held the weekend of April 12-13.
On Saturday, April 12, the Jaycees held its annual town-wide Easter Egg Hunt where nearly 300 children between ages infant to nine participated in collecting approximately 4000 prize-filled plastic eggs. Nearly 750 individual food items, along with cash and food-related gift cards totaling $163, were collected for Cranford Family Care. Special thanks is owed to Girl Scout Troop #40332 for helping to prepare the eggs for the hunt.
On Sunday, April 13, the Jaycees served pancakes and other breakfast foods to nearly 80 families at its annual Pancake Breakfast. The event raised approximately $2700 for the Cranford First Aid Squad, with special thanks to Starbucks (Cranford) and ShopRite (Clark) for donating the coffee and eggs and orange juice, respectively, for the event.
“Both days truly demonstrated an outpouring of generosity by the people of Cranford, for two organizations whose mission is to help individuals and families in need,” said Peter Turnamian, a Cranford Jaycees and organizer of the Pancake Breakfast.
Trevor Deal, the Jaycee who organized the Easter Egg Hunt added, “The Jaycees are proud to be able to host events, in this case the Easer Egg Hunt and Pancake Breakfast, as opportunities to assist the town or local charities that might need additional resources.”
