A car fire closed the bridge's lower level into New York City Thursday morning.

FORT LEE, NJ — The eastbound lower level of the George Washington Bridge has reopened following a car fire.
The fire was on the New Jersey side of the bridge near the toll plaza, according to 511nj.org, the state's emergency traffic notification service. Municipal officials alerted motorists to the delays on the borough's Nixle page.
Traffic was detoured from the lower level. There is a 45-minute delay on the bridge's eastbound upper level. Delays stretch back to the Interstates 95 and 80.
