Freehold Breaks Ground on New Elks Point Memorial

Freehold Breaks Ground on New Elks Point Memorial
Officials, veterans and Freehold residents gathered at Elks Point on Saturday for a groundbreaking of the new memorial. American Post 54 shared photos of the event on its Facebook page.

The new memorial in front of Freehold Elks Lodge No. 1454 will pay tribute to Freehold area military members who died during war. The revamped memorial will include permanent cement crosses and a Star of David to replace the wooden ones, according to the New Transcript.

Local members of the Marine Corps League, Jewish War Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion were present at the event.

Personalized brick pavers are being sold to raise funds needed for the project.
