William H. Sounder, 29, of Sicklerville, and Edward Goldsboro, 47, of Clementon, were charged with two counts of receiving stolen property, possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of drug paraphernalia. Souder was also charged with tampering with physical evidence for attempting to dispose of the heroin once discovered by police.
Gloucester Township Police received a 9-1-1 call at about 1:39 p.m. on Friday about a vehicle being operated erratically on Blackwood Clementon Road. A short time later, the Haddonfield Police Department determined the car had been stolen in Haddonfield.
Police found the vehicle in the United Check Cashing parking lot on Blackwood Clementon Road. Police approached the vehicle and spotted Souder loading a syringe with what appeared to be heroin.
When Souder realized he was being watched, he threw the heroin on the floor and attempted to grind it into the carpet with his boot, ignoring officers’ demands to stop.
Souder and Goldsboro were both in possession of numerous hypodermic needles and stolen credit cards.
An investigation determined the credit cards were proceeds of a vehicle burglary that took place in Haddonfield and is under investigation by the Haddonfield Police Department. The stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner.
Souder and Goldsboro were remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility in default of $20,000/10 percent bail.
