Man Charged Following Standoff With Police Saturday Morning
A man barricaded himself inside a Hobart Drive home for about an hour before surrendering. No injuries were reported.
Josephe Moore, 56, was charged with simple assault, harassment and weapon offenses, Gloucester Township Police announced Sunday morning.
At about 9:05 Saturday morning, the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to the 500 block of Hobart Drive for a man, who was reported to be armed with a steak knife. He had been involved in a dispute with another person in the home.
When officers arrived, Moore was on the front lawn and he immediately began yelling for them to leave before running inside the home.
Several neighbors began exiting their homes due to his loud and erratic behavior. The man was very agitated towards police and refused to come out of the home, as he continually yelled outside the residence through the front window.
The area of the home was contained by numerous officers and the roadway was closed to vehicular traffic during the incident. After approximately one hour, an officer on the GTPD Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) was able to successfully convince Moore to surrender.
Moore was taken into custody and officers were able to complete the investigation. There were no injuries during this incident.
He was released on summons pending court and transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.
